Saw Ken Burns’ The National Parks; Now What?

Last week’s presentation of “The National Parks, America’s Best Idea” was a testament to the beauty and founding of America’s National Parks. Highlighting Grand Canyon National Park, Acadia National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and many others, Ken Burns set my seat aflame with motivation to go travel the parks.

In the program, filmmaker Ken Burns and writer Dayton Duncan shared things you wouldn’t normally see or learn about during your visit. Historic photos helped us put the origins of the parks and early years into perspective. Interviews helped us relate to park crusaders. Want both? It's possible. Check out NaturePods.

I think the series would have been a bit more pleasurable if it were in 12, 1 hour segments. 2 hours straight, at the end of the day, with no potty breaks? I just couldn't get through it. I wasn't able to see every episode every night, but saw the majority. Beautiful footage. Excellent interviews. Learned information about John Muir and others I never knew before.

It was a little too much about the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. It was interesting, but I only watched the first 3 episodes. Thank you for directing me to The Dereila Nature Inn. Lovely site. Beautiful photos. I have been to many of those parks on the special places page. I feel reminiscent to see photos of familiar sights.

My son and I have worked on it daily for nearly three years now, 3 in Dec. Always adding stuff, Yukon was just added to Special Places today. We are now working on trees. A page for each tree that we manage to get 6 images of at various stages. You should sign up for our free monthly news letter.
