That is a wonderful capture. I love the angle and expression!
I think you have a male bullfrog (male because = tympanum significantly larger than eye, throat is yellow) in that photo. It does not have the lateral ridges running from behind each e...
Hi folks, SPRING IS GREAT!!! Yes. We just came back from South Carolina and I will post some new photos in a few days. Mute Swans, etc. Special thanks to Abe for the ID of the Milkweed species. (It was from eastern US (West Virginia), and it was on a west facing bank where numerous other wildflowers were present. This was the only one remaining unidentified from last year's West Virginia collection.
Greetings Margaret, I am new & not set-up, I have been studying native and adaptive exotics, esp. woody species, & enjoy close-up photography. Trying to pick out a better dig. camera. I monitor dates of 1st flowering in spring & sent to a PA nature group a list of nearly 15 species having flowered so far.
Am esp. studying Delphinium tricorne & liked your picture (vertical) of it much, having reviewed many online. It will soon be budded here on its hot shale site and it seeds so fast. Do you do seeds?
I feel your white flowered unidentified is a species of milkweed, Asclepias. Was it eastern US & moist or high ground? Best wishes.
We have crocuses and a few dandelions blooming here already and we can hardly wait for more to come. The bird migration is looking real good here lately. Red-headed Blackbirds, Common Grackles, Hooded Mergansers, etc, etc. ISN'T SPRING GREAT!!!
Hi Margaret,
I think your photo are wonderful - lots of rich, amazing colours. They are making me wish for Spring to hurry up and the flowers to start blooming.
My son and I have worked on it daily for nearly three years now, 3 in Dec. Always adding stuff, Yukon was just added to Special Places today. We are now working on trees. A page for each tree that we manage to get 6 images of at various stages. Yo...
Thank you for directing me to The Dereila Nature Inn. Lovely site. Beautiful photos. I have been to many of those parks on the special places page. I feel reminiscent to see photos of familiar sights.
It was a little too much about the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. It was interesting, but I only watched the first 3 episodes. Have a look at the link to Special Places that we have photographed and added to our main site, The Dereila Nature Inn. I...
Saw Ken Burns’ The National Parks; Now What?
Last week’s presentation of “The National Parks, America’s Best Idea” was a testament to the beauty and founding of America’s National Parks. Highlighting Grand Canyon National Park, Acadia National Pa...
